Ask Eyal

Eyal-Danon-Ignite-Advisory-Group-200wEyal Danon is the President and Founder of Ignite Advisory Group, and a world-renowned expert on customer and partner advisory boards.

Question: Eyal: What’s the biggest misconception about starting a customer advisory board, that you see in the marketplace?

Answer: When it comes to planning a strong customer advisory board program, one of the top mistakes we see companies make is not allowing enough planning time. We’ve actually spoken to companies that desire to start a CAB program, but already set a planned initial meeting date a mere 4 to 6 weeks after kicking off their program! To establish a robust CAB initiative, there are many step we recommend a company take, such as creating a strong charter, recruiting members, engaging with them and company stakeholders for content, and creating the material for the initial meeting. If done right and allowing for scheduling with the busy executives involved, these step can take about 6 months to complete. Rushing them or cutting corners can create a less than optimal inaugural meeting experience.
